Volunteers Needed

Since September is such an important month, Monique's is looking for volunteers to help Treasured Locks For Children.

Volunteers are needed to help distribute flyers, go to school, help with fundraising, take information to the hospitals, and seek corporate sponsors.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated! We will be participating in the Spokane Valleyfest and would love to have volunteers to help with the treasure chest, donation paperwork and general public awareness.

Our Local Children Need Your Help This Month!

September is a very important month for Monique's Salon. It is National Childhood Alopecia and Cancer Awareness Month. Monique's Salon and all of the staff have joined with Treasured Locks For Children (www.locksforchildren.org) to help raise awareness for all of the children in need.

In 2008, Monique's Salon provided 48 children with wigs or hair pieces in our local area. That is almost one child per week needing all of our help.

We will be trying to raise $10,000 this month and collecting 300 hair donations. This will all go to Treasured Locks For Children and help our local children in the Spokane and Coeur d' Alene area.

Paraffin Wax Therapy

Are you aware of the many benefits of Paraffin Wax Therapy? It is an ancient treatment dating back to the Roman Empire, and has been used ever since to help with wounds, arthritis, joint pain, muscle aches, and dry skin. Paraffin is refined from crude mineral oils and is purified making it safe to use.

The known benefits of paraffin are speeding up the healing process of wounds, soothing muscle and joint pain, moisturizing dry skin, opening pores, and increasing blood circulation.

The way that it works is that the warm liquid wax is placed on your skin, where it cools and hardens, and then is peeled off. The heat from the wax is absorbed by your skin leading to the mentioned benefits, and rejuvenating the skin.

Well the building is coming along nicely! We are on our 5th week of construction. We didn't realize how fast all of this was going to go.

The North and East sides of the building have been removed. The glass front has also been removed.

The South and West sides of the building have the scaffolding attached so the outside removal can begin!

Well this week has been busy and exciting. The new building is moving along. The interior and exterior design has been approved and the remodel should start on Tuesday or Wednesday.

We have got some exciting things going on at the salon this month!

In other news, we’re moving! Yes, after 8 years we are moving to a new location, at 10 N Evergreen in Spokane Valley. The building is bought, the plans for the outside have been finalized and we will see some construction starting in the next few weeks. The new building is much bigger than our current one and will allow us to better serve the needs of our current and future clients. Our services have been expanding to include eyelash extensions, permanent makeup and teeth whitening with others in the works. It’s an exciting time and an opportunity for us to create an amazing environment that gives everyone that moment in their day when they can relax and let their worries flow away. Next weekend, April 17^th through the 19^th, we will have a booth at the Women’s Show at the Convention Center in Spokane. It’s the weekend for the Susan G. Komen’s Race for the Cure as well. Because of the work we do with cancer patients young and old, we meet with men, women and children dealing with many variations of this disease, including breast cancer, on a daily basis. Finding a cure for the disease that afflicts so many people is a cause very close to our hearts. To show our support at the Women’s Show, we will be selling and applying bright pink MicroPoint Accents, which are temporary hair extensions. They are $5 dollars each and ALL the proceeds from each accent will go to the Susan G. Komen foundation. New Building

Monique's Salon is getting a New Home!

After 8 years in the current location, Monique's Salon purchased a new building and will be expanding in size and services within the next 6 months!

We have grown so much, that we will be moving from our current location of 2200 sf to a newly remodeled building that is 6100 sf.

All of us are extremely excited to be able to expand and grow. This will allow many new jobs in the community and new and expanded services and products.

SBA Nomination Update
